50th Anniversary Kick-off Celebration

This all-school event will honor current students, faculty, staff and current board members, along with previous Board of Trustees’ Chairs. The kick-off event will celebrate how Mrs. Awty’s vision of educating students has been carried out through the school’s mission statements during the last 50 years. Our honored guest will be Mr. Sandy Awty, son of Kay and J. W. Awty.

Academic Festival
Fall 2006
In early September, a school-wide writing contest to celebrate Awty’s 50th Anniversary will be introduced. Each student will submit a written entry, either poetry or prose, which may be accompanied by a photograph or illustration. A diverse committee will select the top entries from each grade, and winners will receive appropriate recognition for their work.

Parents, alumni and friends of Awty are invited to celebrate this commemorative year with a round of golf. The Dad’s Club will host this event in anticipation of a grand celebration – and maybe even a “hole-in-one.”

Happy Birthday Awty! Help us make Awty’s wishes come true. Join us for our largest annual fundraising effort of the year. This year’s gala will center on the theme of our 50th Anniversary celebration. Special rates will be given to alumni, and invitations are being extended to previous headmasters of the school — to enhance this grand soirée.

Our traditional graduation ceremony will bring a close to the 50th Anniversary celebration year. The ceremony will mark new beginnings for the Class of 2007 and for Awty, as we look to the future and prepare for the next 50 years.
The 50th Anniversary Videos
A collection of Awty’s history is being compiled to make one great collector’s item. View documentation of Cumba, the famous goat that inspired Awty’s mascot — “The Awty Rams”. It will show the Awty uniform over the last 50 years and will bring back memories from the 80s and 90s with extraordinary and extremely rare footage. Finally, the video will bring us to the present time and open the window to our future.
Order forms for this commemorative video will be mailed to you or can be downloaded from the Awty website www.awty.org. The video will be on sale beginning Fall 2006.
