ALL FOR THE CHILDREN... By now, most of you are aware of the new volunteer program that Awty is implementing this school year. Starting January 1, 2008, all volunteers will need to be registered with the Advancement department. As we recognize that it is a big step forward, anyone who is already volunteering will be able to continue doing so until the end of December 2007 while he/she completes the volunteer registration process. Who is a Volunteer? Anyone who is doing anything at the school and/or for school without being compensated is considered a volunteer, i.e. a room parent, gala volunteer, library volunteer, field trip chaperone, Booster Bistro hostess, classroom helper, etc. Why Awty has adopted this new standard? Our main concern is and will always be the children—your children. This is purely a measure designed to reduce child endangerment as much as possible. Why wait until something happens? The Awty Volunteer Program: The Volunteer Program essentially consists of the following steps: 1. Complete, sign and turn in the Volunteer Form The personal information we request is required to make sure that the background check is being done on the correct person.
