Strategic Plan 2007-2012

The 2007-2012 Awty Strategic Plan is intended to guide the direction of the school over a five year period. It addresses eight key subject areas:

• Students and Graduates
• Physical Plant and Facilities
• Program,Finance and Development
• School Personnel
• School Reputation and Recognition
• Governance and Parents and Families.

For each topic there is a goal, a rationale for that goal and several key implementation steps towards achievement of the goal.

The Plan was prepared under the direction of the Board’s Strategic Planning Committee with substantial input from all Awty constituencies: parents, students, faculty, administration, alumni, staff and Board of Trustees. The school worked with a nationally recognized consultant to help guide the process. The “listening groups” that were convened in September 2006 had 180 attendees who discussed trends and issues. In December 2006 the Strategic Planning Committee hosted a three-day workshop with 55 attendees. This workshop produced the first draft of the plan by articulating suggested goals, rationales, and implementation points. The committee then distilled the workshop draft, recirculated it, and continued to refine it. The Board of Trustees then voted to adopt the 2007-2012 Strategic Plan.

Assignments for implementation have been made (e.g., Director of Admissions on admissions policies, The Board Committee on Trustees on governance, and a new committee on curriculum). The input that was made during development stages of the plan is available to those who are responsible for its implementation. Adjustments to the plan goals on implementation steps are possible, and the Strategic Planning Committee welcomes your further input. The Strategic Planning Committee thanks all who have worked diligently to produce the 2007-2012 Strategic Plan.
