The Early Childhood Division of The Awty International School is a dual language program, French/English or Spanish/English, and includes separate sections for three year olds, four year olds, and kindergarteners.
The overall aim of the Early Childhood Division is to encourage bilingualism and support the emotional, social, physical, and cognitive development of each child through developmentally appropriate activities in two languages as he or she works towards fluency. Children begin cursive instruction in kindergarten.
The Preschool faculty is dedicated to establishing a warm and supportive learning environment.
The curriculum in the International Section of the Lower School is designed to provide a firm foundation in the areas of Reading, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, French or Spanish language, Computer, Fine Arts, and Physical Education. Students write in cursive and the standards- based curriculum is accelerated and rigorous.
Lower School teachers continue to provide a friendly and nurturing educational experience, fostering academic excellence as well as respect for and appreciation of our culturally rich and diverse learning community.
