Managing an Ankle Sprain

1. Rest

2. Elevate ankle

3. Ice- Either ice pack 20 minutes on and at least 20 minutes off, repeat OR submerge in a bucket filled with water and ice for 10 minutes and at least 30 minutes out

4. Compression wrap as illustrated, make sure to start wrapping from the toes up the ankle to help physically push swelling out of the ankle. Remove wrap at night before bed.












1. Advil (Ibuprofen) regularly; usually 3 times daily

2. Start gentle range of motion exercises as pain allows, be sure to ice right after finishing exercises
