Join the Awty Dads’ Club
The Awty Dads’ Club (ADC) provides a community for Dads to socialize, as well as to support the development and cultivation of the school and its mission.
How to Join
Send an email asking to be added to the email list. (Very simple!)
Sign up to Play in the 2007 Golf Tournament
Sign up today for the Annual Awty Dads’ Club International Golf Classic, to be held November 8, 2007. You are welcome to register a foursome or individually; the scramble format allows players of all levels. Through hole and event sponsorships, this event helps raise support for Awty. This annual event traditionally sells out, so please fill in the form today. Don’t play golf? Then, come to the course and volunteer. The day ends with a great reception and raffle. See page 43 for more details!
Helping the Community
In 2005-2006, the ADC spearheaded an Awty volunteer effort to build houses for Hurricane Katrina victims under the auspices of Habitat for Humanity. Joined by Awty students, the event proved to be an excellent way to connect with the community. The ADC hopes to undertake similar efforts.
Homecoming
An Upper School tradition centered on an invitation football (soccer) match was supported this year with the ADC organizing the event Bar-B-Q whilst enjoying a great win by the varsity team. This was a huge success, and we intend to fulfill this Homecoming role on a regular basis.
On the Pitch
The ADC currently has two teams playing in the Kicks 6-a-side league, on Monday and Wednesday evenings. (Kicks Indoor Soccer, 611 Shepherd Drive – www.kicksindoor.com). Contact Brian Oakley, or any officer other for ongoing details – each squad has 12 players; no previous experience necessary!
Monthly Evening Socials
2006-2007 saw some very successful ADC socials at local establishments. The ADC aim to make this a regular feature for 2007-2008, providing a forum for the ADC committee, class reps, and any Dads who know a good time being had when they see it!
Café & Croissants
This year we sponsored one of the monthly APPA Café & Croissants meetings, with guest speakers sharing updates on Athletic success, and the new Awty Athletics Stadium. Plans are afoot to involve the ADC once a term, featuring speakers of interest.
Class Reps
As the ADC grows, we are looking to put in place a broad network to ensure all grades are covered. This will ensure we can address the needs and desires across the school spectrum. If you would like to take on this very un-demanding role, please send an email to ADC.
Something for Everyone
With the wide array of activities under the ADC umbrella, the ADC is seeking leaders to help out. If you’re able to volunteer an hour or two a month, please visit the ADC page on the Awty website and send an email. It’s a great, low-key way to connect with other Awty Dads.
