5th grade Art Project

Art transcends cultures and generations… Our 5th grade students learned about Japanese artist and printmaker Katsushika Hokusai, from the Edo period. He is best known for the woodblock print series “Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji” which includes the iconic print “The Great Wave off Kanagawa”. Each student was given a small square to copy using oil pastels. They were not able to see the other squares, so the final artwork was a surprise! And what a beautiful surprise it was!
