Before starting a 30+ year career as a college and guidance counselor, Gwen worked as a dietician and as a counselor in a community mental health agency. She has taught in middle school and community college. After many years abroad working at international schools in The Netherlands, Belgium, and Singapore, as well as living in Germany and Morocco, Gwen was delighted to join the international community at Awty eight years ago. She has visited hundreds of colleges and universities all over the world and has organized counselor tours in Canada and in the US. She served as the Chair of the Guidance Committee for the European Council of International Schools for eight years and was a founding member of the International Association for College Admission Counseling. Gwen has two sons. One studied civil engineering at the US Coast Guard Academy and earned an MBA at Stanford. The other attended The California College of the Arts in San Francisco and is a successful industrial designer in the Bay Area. Gwen enjoys working with all kinds of students from artists to engineers, and is particularly interested in women’s education and in helping students make a successful transition from high school to college. She speaks French and Dutch.
