Learning Goal: 

Students will begin to learn about the college process and be encouraged to pursue a healthy school / life balance. They will transition successfully to high school and build awareness of the connection between academic and social behaviors in high school and future college and career choices.

Students will continue to improve their understanding of the college process and the role that their academic and personal behavior plays in the process. Students will continue exploring extracurricular/enrichment activities but also deepen their contribution to those that matter most to them. Students will be introduced to standardized testing, resume building, and career awareness.

Students will understand how to do the research and self-exploration necessary to end the year with a thoughtful list of potential colleges, develop a plan for standardized testing, update and polish their resume, understand how finances affect their college choices, understand The Common Application and Apply Texas applications, be prepared to write a draft of their college essay over the summer, and understand the realities of the college admission process from the college perspective.
