Admission to The Awty International School is selective. The first step is to submit the online admissions application. The deadlines to apply for entry are October 31 for PK3 - 5th/CM2 and November 21 for 6th/6ème - 12th/Tle. Please review the application requirements according to the grade/program your child will be applying to enter. Completed files will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee and notification of decisions will be sent to parents in early March.

The Awty International School begins accepting applications in September, one year ahead of the intended year of entry.Applications must be received by the stated deadlines. Applications from families learning of a relocation to Houston outside of the stated deadlines will be processed on a case-by-case basis depending on availability of openings in the intended grade(s) of entry.

• For students entering PK3 - 5th/CM2, the deadline is October 31.
• For students entering 6th/6ème - 12th/Tle, the deadline is November 21.

The completed online application form and $200.00 USD non-refundable application fee are due by the deadline. The parent statement (all grades) and student statement (grades 6/6ème - 12/TLE) are also required. All other requirements are due by mid-January.

The final requirements deadline is January 15, 2026 for consideration in the first round of decisions to be released on March 5, 2026.

As admission is selective and cannot be guaranteed, if your intention is for your child to attend a private school, we do recommend researching additional school options. A great resource for families looking for a private school in the area is www.houstonprivateschools.org.

You may submit only one application per child per admissions cycle to The Awty International School. You must indicate your preferred immersion language, second language, or diploma track (IB or French Bac) on the application.

Awty has a very strong world language program. Students in Early Learning (PK3-K/GS) participate in immersion programs in either Spanish or French, and no previous exposure to the second language is expected. In 1st/CP through 5th grade/CM2, the curriculum is delivered through a language immersion model with the core subjects delivered in either English, French, or Spanish and some specialty classes, (i.e. Art, Physical Education, Second Language) taught in the second language. We offer intensive language courses from beginner through native speaker levels in all other grades.

Candidates for PK4 to 5th grade must take the Wechsler Preschool & Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI) or Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC). Please schedule this test with Collaborative Academic Testing Service (CATS). Candidates 6th grade and above need to take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) by ERB. Please review the admissions checklist for more information.

Please call the Admissions Office prior to submitting a late online application to confirm availability of openings. Typically, late applications are accepted only from relocating families.

Due to the high number of applications, and in order to ensure an equitable review process, all applicants are notified on a common date. This year the notification date will be in early March.

Awty contracts with AFC transportation to provide buses for high-demand neighborhoods, based on interest and availability. Students must be in Kindergarten or above to ride the bus independently. Younger children may ride if accompanied by a sibling in 3rd grade/CE2 or above.

Yes. The Awty Plus program starts right after school and there are a variety of activities to select for PK3 to 5th/CM2 students. The program runs until 6:00 p.m.

Awty gives special consideration to qualified applicants whose parents are affiliated with the school in one of the following ways: is an Awty alumnus, is an employee of the school, or has a child already enrolled.

French citizens applying to the French Accredited Program may apply for the French Bourse through Houston's French Consulate.

If an opening becomes available and your child is selected from the waiting pool, the Admissions Office will contact you right away. There is no need for families to check on their waiting pool status, as you will receive communication from our office should a spot become available. Please know the waiting pool is not ranked. The waiting pool stays open until the first day of school. At that point, families are encouraged to re-apply for the following academic year.
