Houston’s Premier PK3 – 12th Grade International Day School

Information for All New Families

School Communications

The school provides several ways for families to stay connected and informed during the school year. Two of the most important online tools are My Backpack and the Parent Portal. Please click on the link below for additional information.

Click here to learn more about other important communication tools the school uses, including the weekly Awty Notes.

Medical Forms and Information

All students enrolled at Awty must have a complete immunization history and a medical record with grade appropriate Texas screenings on file with the clinic in order to be compliant with the state regulations for the first day of school. You will be receiving a separate email with important information and instructions for providing Awty with your child(ren)’s medical information.

Please visit the School Clinic pages of the website to learn more.

Important: International families will need to have a medical form completed by a pediatrician in the United States.

International Students / Non-U.S. Citizens

For all students who are not holders of a U.S. passport, please submit the following to the Admissions Office as soon as possible and no later than July 15:

  • Copy of Passport

Welcome Families

The Welcome Family program was established by the Awty Parents and Personnel Association (APPA) to ease the transition to school for new students and their families. The Welcome Family, or “buddy,” will serve as your guide through the first school year. Your Welcome Family will reach out to you via email to establish contact and will be available to answer any questions you might have. Hopefully, you will be able to meet before the start of school. The Welcome Family committee will also organize grade level events to take place in August usually the week before the start of school. Keep an eye out for invitations.

If you have any questions about the Welcome Family program, please feel free to email Debbi Gadin, APPA Welcome Family Committee Coordinator and parent of three Awty students who will be in CE1, 6th grade, and 9th grade next year.

Beginning in Kindergarten, students must wear the school uniform. Parker School Uniforms is our provider, and each year they organize in-store private sales for new families, offering a 10% discount. The next sale will take place from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 13 at 2000 W Governors Circle, Suite E, Houston, TX 77092.

Please review the Uniform Policy for details by grade level and division.

Bus Transportation

Awty contracts with AFC Transportation to offer bus service to families living in the following areas:

  • Dairy Ashford / Town & Country
  • Katy
  • Lakes on Eldridge / Lakes on Eldridge North / Twin Lakes
  • Pearland
  • Shadow Briar / Memorial
  • Sugar Land

Bus pick up is generally between 6:30 and 7:20 a.m., and drop off is between 3:45 and 4:40 p.m. Students must be in Kindergarten/Grande Section or older to ride the bus. All buses are equipped with seat belts; some buses have three seat belts per bench in the first seven rows to accommodate three small passengers.

Route details and registration instructions for the 2017-2018 school year will be sent to all families by the end of July.
