National Art Honor Society

The purpose of the National Art Honor Society (NAHS) is to inspire and recognize students who have a strong interest in creativity and art. NAHS members maintain the highest standards in art scholarship, character, and service, while helping to celebrate and support the arts throughout the school and larger community.

Requirements:

  • Students must have completed at least one credit of Upper School Art.
  • Students must maintain an 85 or better average while enrolled in art courses.
  • Students must complete ten art-related service hours (five to be inducted).
  • Students must attend all meetings (absences can be excused in advance if there are conflicts).

Participation can also be used to fulfill CAS hour requirements. Numerous opportunities are offered to members throughout the year. In the past, students have earned hours by decorating school events, entering contests, designing posters or T-shirts, making banners or murals, helping with fundraising, and volunteering at local arts events.

The "Art Club" (National Art Honor Society) was founded in 1985 by former Awty art teacher Rebecca Johnson.
