NEW EMPLOYEES AT AWTY

Here's a quick glance at our new full-time faculty members and administrators.

MERCEDES FERNANDEZ-ASENJO
Secondary School - Spanish Teacher

Ms. Fernandez-Asenjo came to Awty from the University of Houston where she was a teacher assistant for four years in the Hispanic Studies Department. She has 17 years teaching experience and has taught in Italy and Texas. She is trilingual, speaking English, Spanish, and Italian. She also has knowledge in French and Modern Greek. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Philology from the Universidad de Granada in Spain, a Master of Arts in Spanish as a Foreign Language from the Universidad Antonio de Nebrija in Madrid, and a Ph.D in Spanish from the University of Houston.


FANNY FRANCHITTI
Primary School - FLE

Mrs. Franchitti came to Awty from the Universidad del CESSA, a culinary school in Mexico City where she was a French teacher. She has over six years teaching experience and has taught in Mexico, Malaysia, and Ecuador in “Alliance Francaise” and in private schools from 1st graders to Seniors. She is trilingual, speaking French (her native language), English, and Spanish. She holds a degree in Spanish, a bachelor’s equivalent in French Literature from Lille III, and a master's degree in French as a Foreign Language from Paris III La Sorbonne Nouvelle. 

 

DONKA IVANOVA
Primary School - Preschool Assistant 

Ms. Ivanova has been serving as a substitute teacher at Awty since 2013. She has also served as a teacher's assistant both for Awty and Askew Elementary here in Houston, as well as a kindergarten and elementary school teacher in Sofia, Bulgaria. She is trilingual, speaking Bulgarian, Russian, and English. She holds a diploma as an Elementary School Teacher and a diploma as a Kindergarten Teacher from the College of Pedagogics for Elementary and Primary Education Teachers in Sofia, Bulgaria. She also received a bachelor's degree in sports from the National Sport Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria.
