Awty Adopts Chickens to Reduce Food Waste

Why did the chicken cross the quad? This year at Awty, we've added a chicken coop and adopted several chickens to help reduce food waste right here on our campuses. Food waste reduction helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and lower pressure on water and land resources.  Leftover food and food scraps from lunch will be collected in bins each day, then it will be used as a food resource for our chickens. Once the chickens are a little older, we hope to see them laying eggs that will be used by the Sage Dining staff when preparing lunch for our students.
